Basmati Rice

 

Ingredients

Serves 6–8

Ingredients

50 grms butter

1 ½ mugs of rice

1 ½ mugs hot water

1 tsp salt

2 cinnamon sticks

 

Method

Wash rice (gently so grains stay whole) till water runs clear.

Add salt, cinnamon sticks, 1 mug of water

Microwave for 7 mins on low setting

Stir well, microwave for further 7 mins on low setting

Stir well, add further ½ mug of water and microwave on high setting for 8 mins, stirring at least twice

Add butter and if rice is dry add a little water

Microwave for a further 2 mins on high setting

(To test if rice is cooked, place grain between fore finger and thumb, squeeze, it should not feel gritty)
