Kulchai Puris

Ingredients

(Makes about 16 - 20 Puris)

4 mugs Self Raising flour

1 Teaspoon salt

I mug Plain Yoghurt

½ Mug hot (not boiling) water

Oil to deep Fry

Whole Jeera (optional)

½ Teaspoon Green or Red Chilli (optional)

 

Method

Put flour in a bowl add salt

Rub oil into the four if used and add any of the optional ingredients.

Stir together yoghurt and water and add to flour mixture and make a soft almost bread like dough (add more warm water if required). Knead well.

If time permits cover dough with damp cloth and allow to rest for ½ hour

Split dough into balls a little smaller than golf balls.

Using a Rolling Pin roll into approximately 3”x5” flat breads

Deep Fry in hot oil for about 30 seconds each side until golden brown

Place in a serving bowl lined with absorbent kitchen tissue, to absorb the excess oil – serve immediately.
